About Nancy Carlsson-Paige

Nancy Carlsson-Paige is Professor Emeritus at Lesley University, where she taught educators for over 30 years, and was a founder of the university's Center for Peaceable Schools. She Co-Founded Defending the Early Years, which is a non-profit organization working for a just, equitable, and quality early childhood education for every young child. She is author of many articles, as well as the book Taking Back Childhood: A Proven Roadmap for Raising Confident, Creative, Compassionate Kids. Her writing focuses on media and technology, early childhood, peaceable classrooms, and education reform. She has spoken at many conferences, including National Association for the Education of Young Children Conference, Project Renewal Ground Zero Conference, Center for Peaceable Schools, and National Association for the Education of Youth. She has received many awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Academy of Education Arts and Sciences, Peace Educator of the Year (Peace and Justice Studies Association), Robert F. Kennedy Children's Action Corps Award, Outstanding Educator Award (Urban College of Boston), and the Outstanding Contribution to Women award (Cambridge YWCA).
